About Andhra University
Andhra University is one of the oldest educational institutions in India and the first conceived as a residential, teaching-cum-affiliating university focused mainly on postgraduate teaching and research. It was established in 1926 under the Madras Act, born out of a collective demand from the Telugu community for a university in the educationally underserved northern Circars and Ceded districts of the erstwhile Madras Presidency. Sir C.R. Reddy served as its founding Vice-Chancellor.
